"Ahoy, {PLAYER}!"

Captain is a retired sailor-turned-fisherman, teaching the player how to fish using the Fishing Rod and Lures. He is Skipper's dad, and like Skipper, also says "ohoho" a bit too much.

Like most NPCs, Captain can be picked up with a link={{{link}}} to be moved to other places.

Introduction Is that you, Skipper? Ohohoho, flattery!

That sea cub wishes he could grow a beard as majestic as mine.

Say, while yer here, I don't suppose ye fancy sharin' a new hobby? Aint nothin' as peaceful as watchin' the ocean!
- So, Skipper is your son? Proud to say he is! Salt in his blood an' ocean in his heart, a Saylor through an' through.

The brave lad took over from me after I lost me leg - even after hearin' how it happened! What a tale that is to tell.

Have I ever told ye that story? Of the mighty ship-crushin' Krakenbee? Got a strong stomach, have ye matey? Here, take a seat an' pull up yer bootstraps.

*The Captain shares the most gut-wrenching, horrific story you've ever heard. You feel a chill in the air as he describes that fateful day, and you look upon the sea with new and growing dread*

*You wonder to yourself, how will I ever describe this moment to another living soul with enough gravitas to do it justice?*

*The Captain pats you on the shoulder and nods knowingly. You will never be the same again.*
- What's with the bird? Burds! Blasted burds - gettin' stuck in me sails, peckin' me hat, poopin' on me deck!

No, give me forty-foot waves an' angry skies any day. Do me a favour an' scare any you see away from me, will ye?
- Can you help me get started with fly fishing? Ohohoho, matey! I thought you'd never ask.

It's one of my great joys in life! All you need is a rod and some lures - mind you, it's not really about the fishing itself.

For now though, angler-in-waiting, attach your lure to the string, cast your rod out across the water and wait for the fish to investigate.

Yes, it's as easy as that, ohohoho! If you need help getting started, I can lend you a few bits and bobs.
- Can you help me make fishing lures? Ah, the best bit of fly fishin' is making yer lures!

Yer tryin' to make something marvellous an' excitin', so the fishies come an' take a look.

All sorts of thin's can work: feathers - blasted burds have one use, after all - glue, twine, bee products. Ye'll have to try different designs to attract other fish!

Say, now yer gettin' into it, ye should consider building yerself a proper workshop. I have all ye'll need to get started: only the best for me new fishin' partner!
- It's working - I've found some fish! Ohohoho, we'll make a fine angler of ye yet! Must be nice to take a break from all that bee malarky.

Bet everyone has got ye runnin' around at a thousand miles an' hour, critical this, important that. Remember, ye can't help anyone if you're burned out; self care is important too!
- I think I'm getting the hang of this - I've found some more Well I'll bee. I am impressed with how quickly ye're pickin' this up - some of me wisdom must've rubbed off on ye, ohohoho!
- What were the reefs for? They seem sad and messy... They weren't always like that. Once, they barred passage to all but the most foolhardy sailor - mighty, colourful barriers of coral, teemin' with life.

I'm a bit ashamed to say what happened to them in the end, but I know Bumblemore has been hard at work tryin' to undo the damage.

Have ye met him yet? A great man. I'm sure he'd love to meet the latest famous Keeper of the Archipelago! Last I saw him, he was down in the South West Tundra.
- Do you know Bumblemore? Phineas? Ah, that ol' rogue. We go way back, before he founded that club of his, before the disasters, even!

Together we explored these islands an' charted their wonders - even I could tell you how precious they were.

So when he wanted to protect these islands, I helped him ship everythin' he needed from the Mainland. It was risky, an' it weren't easy. The world was a dangerous place back then an' eventually I took one risk too many.

Retirement suits me just fine, though. It's peaceful, an' I get to see my boy sail into port.
- Have you seen a mysterious hooded figure? Ohohoho, that's a fine mystery, indeed. When he was a lad, I told Skipper that the hooded figure was me daft mate, Geoff, actin' like a fool in a costume.

The cub was scared stiff, he was. When yer a bit ol'er, I'll tell you the truth of it.
